Jesus says, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much” (Luke 16:10). According to our Savior, little things can make a significant impact on the big picture.
THE BIBLE ON LITTLE THINGS
- The Lord’s approval of the widow who gave last two coins in Mark 12:41. The story of the widow who dropped her two small coins in the offering is recorded in two of the gospels. In Mark 12:41-44 and in Luke 21:1-4, Jesus is teaching in the Temple in Jerusalem when He saw the widow drop in all she had.
- Mark called the two coins mites which are smaller in value than a penny. The small coins are talked about today because small things mean a lot in the eyes of God.
- The little boy’s lunch in John 6:9.: A little boy gave Jesus his lunch to feed the multitude. The boy was small and so was his lunch. We can safely assume the little boy was from a poor family based on the meager lunch he had that consisted of only two small pickled herrings and five small barley loaves.
- The small boy’s lunch became the subject of one of the greatest miracles in the Bible. Once he surrendered it, his lunch became something Jesus could work with. His little lunch ended up feeding 5,000 men besides women and children (John 6:9).
- Jesus chose only 12 disciples
- Small coin in fish’s mouth to pay taxes in Matthew 17:27
- Mustard Seed: in the parable of the mustard seed in Matthew 13:31–32, He explains, “The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.”
As you probably know, the mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds planted in the Middle East. But nurtured in the right conditions, it can grow into something resembling a small tree even providing a haven for birds. It’s amazing what a tiny thing like a seed can become.
Faith is like that. If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to a mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move (Matthew 17:20). Now, the first time I read this passage, I thought it meant that God gives us power so we can impress unbelieving friends. But the Bible also says that God takes our sins and casts them into the depths of the sea. I believe this ultimately means that if you invest a small, childlike faith in God, He can forgive your mountain of sins and cast them into the deepest depths of the ocean.
The Danger of Little Sins
- Don’t underestimate the power of little things. Jesus took a little lunch from a little boy and fed thousands. With a little jawbone, Samson slew an army. David took a little stone and brought down a giant. With just a little faith, great things can be accomplished.
- A Lingering Lustful Look: neglecting little things can lead to big trouble. As much as David brought down a giant with something little, a small indiscretion — a lingering lustful look — turned into adultery, deception, and even murder. He lost four of his sons and nearly the kingdom over something that started with a little look at Bathsheba taking a bath.
- We know that addiction to pornography begins with just a little
- and addiction to drugs begins with just a little sample.
- Tongue: In James 3:5, we learn, “Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. Sometimes when we utter a careless word of gossip.
- We also underestimate
our words. They can be biting. They can sting. Jesus said, “Every idle word” —
every little word — “that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in
the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words
thou shalt be condemned” (Matthew 12:36).
They can take only a few milliseconds to say, but the effect of words can last
forever.
- the opposite is also true. Little words of encouragement and hope can turn a life around.
- The deadliest animal in the world isn’t a tiger or bear — or a stampeding elephant or rhino. it’s a mosquito. This tiny beast kills about three million people a year through the spread of malaria. Yet we underestimate these creatures because of their size.
Conclusion
Do not dismiss the small things in your life. Small things will develop into a harvest of blessings when you allow God to use them for His glory. According to Luke 16:10,“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” Therefore, the little things you have are there to prepare you for bigger things. The key is to trust God while possessing the little things. Luke 16:10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

You have touched some nice points here. Any way keep up wrinting.
Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it
to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the
shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside
and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
