HOMILY FOR SATURDAY, THIRD WEEK OF EASTER

Memorial of St Athanasius, Bishop & Doctor of the Church

Acts 9:31-42; Psalm 115; John 6:60-69

In the first reading we noticed that the Church prevailed and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit multiplied. The Church will always prevail all odds: heresies and persecutions. In the gospel we at told that many had difficulties accepting Christ teaching as the bread of eternal life. When he asks the apostles what they think, Peter replies that there is nobody else to go to for he is the one who has the message of eternal life. Beloved, we actually have no where to go to. The Church is where we find the true message of eternal life. Through the Holy Spirit therefore, let us like St. Athanasius, stay with the Church and prevail over all odds and wrong teachings in our time. Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
