We are scared stiff like kids in a dark room Anxieties draw us closer to an undesired doom Anguish as the road zigzagged into the future Because termites are in the roof eating to torture
The load of evil pooling down our dignity This fall, rush to the ground for obvious laxity All around, the wind mourning in the trees Nigeria our common home in divided branches
The masses’ cry for change is clearer and louder Still feeling sober like death warmed over The currency imbalance mocks our resources Because of regular import of native resources
Today this poor insolence makes us shiver We roam about for remedy to this fever Every day we pray for lasting change Till this tick our problems go out of range
On papers bribery appears on every page Fraud and corruption are the artistes on stage If our leaders don’t fizzle into incompetence Slowly but surely we shall end this pestilence
To rebound the economy that is dwindling We must never say die, rather keep working Though the bees buzz and we get series of stings Assuredly, it is not over until the fat lady sings
