In the first reading Paul taught the people that baptism is necessary but it is not sufficient for Christian maturity. The Holy Spirit is. In the gospel, Christ says “in the world you will have troubles but be courageous for I have conquered the world.” Courage comes from the Holy Spirit. He makes us strong, matured Christians and soldiers of the gospel. Lord send forth your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.Â
