HOMILY FOR THURSDAY OF THE ELEVENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR II

Sirach 48:1-14; Psalm 97; Matthew 6:7-15

The first reading presents us with a song of praise for Elijah and Elisha. Elijah was covered by the whirlwind, and Elisha was filled with his spirit. The song further demonstrated their commitment and service to God despite all the crises and dangers they went through. We have to be like Elijah and Elisha in this generation. The gospel presents us with the theme of prayer. Jesus taught his followers how to pray. He gave them the “Our Father” otherwise called the “Lord’s Prayer”. The “Our Father” is both a prayer and a pattern for all prayers. Therefore, we are called to pray and to serve God as Elijah and Elisha did. William Law once said that  “Prayer is the nearest approach to God.” learn to pray and you will not fall prey.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

the screen in Ie. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you
