HOMILY FOR FRIDAY: FOURTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II

Hosea 14:2-10; Psalm 51; Matthew 10:16-23

Hosea in the first reading told the people that if they listen and believe God’s words they will walk in righteous; but if they refuse then they will stumble and fall. One of the reasons many people fail, stumble and fall is refusal of instruction. Thus, as part of the instructions given to the disciples before their mission Jesus told them of the hardships that will come upon them. He however, told them not to be discouraged that he will strengthen them. Beloved in Christ, as we carry out our mission when hardship comes do not be discouraged. If God has given the mission he will make provision for the mission. All we need therefore is to abide by the instruction. God bless you!

SHORT PRAYER FOR THE SICK

Loving God, I pray that you will comfort those who are sick with your divine healing. Give them confidence in the power of your grace and healing. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
