HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF THE TWENTIETH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

Ezekiel 24:15-24; Psalm – Deuteronomy 32; Matthew 19:16-22

In the first reading Prophet Ezekiel became a lesson onto the people of Israel. The death of Ezekiel’s wife symbolized the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and the grief the people will suffer. In the Gospel we read the account of the rich young man who came to Jesus to be a follower. He kept all the commandments but he could not give up his wealth. God wants us to have wealth but does not want wealth to have us. Ezekiel could let go of his wife so also we must let go our dearest possession for the sake of the kingdom of God. Heaven is our greatest treasure no earthly treasure should stop us from entering. God bless you.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.Amen.
