HOMILY FOR TUESDAY THE TWENTY-FIFTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

PROVERBS 21:1-6, 10-13; PSALM 119; LUKE 8:19-21

The First reading from the Book of Proverbs compares the ways of evil men and the ways of the righteous. It says the wicked are cast down to ruin while the plans of the diligent lead to abundance. Beloved, there is a result for all our actions. In line with this theme the response to today’s psalms says “Guide me, Lord in the path of your commands.” In the Gospel, Jesus says that those who do his will are members of his family. Obedience is the key to God’s family. Therefore, let us obey his will and preserve our position in his family. Again, this episode between Jesus and his family further illustrates the way certain families support or hinder their children from participating in the Christian community. Lord Jesus help us.

Let us pray

Teach me Lord the way of Your will, and I will observe it. Give me understanding and I will observe Your Law, and keep it wholeheartedly. (Ps 119:33-34)
