HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY THIRTY-SECOND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II (MEMORIAL OF ST MARTIN OF TOURS, BISHOP)

TITUS 3:1-7; PSALM 22; LUKE 17:11-19

The Gospel speaks of the cure of ten lepers. But only one man returned to thank the Lord. The ingratitude of the nine was not overlooked. Beloved, how often do we thank God for the blessings, the air we breathe, the rain, the sun, and countless favour that we receive from him. Sometimes we take for granted some of these things. We don’t value them until we are in search of need of them. Let us be thankful if we want out tank to be full. To the one who came back to say thank you for the healing Jesus blessed him with the gift of salvation and so it is said that “gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more.”

 LET US PRAY

Father in Heaven, Creator of all and source of all goodness and love, please look kindly upon us and receive our heartfelt gratitude. Thank you for all the graces and blessings you have bestowed upon us, spiritual and temporal: our faith and religious heritage; our food and shelter, our health, the loves we have for one another, our family and friends. Dear Father, in your infinite generosity, please grant us continued graces and blessing both now and forever more. Amen. St. Martin of Tours, pray for us
