HOMILY FOR MONDAYMONDAY: THE FIRST WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME (11TH JAN. 2021)

Hebrews 1:1-6; Psalm 96; Mark 1:14-20

After John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel.” Ordinary Time begins with the message of Jesus calling the people to repentance. Repentance fundamentally means the change of one’s mind towards something. It is a decisive change in direction. It’s a change of mind that leads to a change of thinking that leads to a change of attitude that leads to a change of feeling that leads to a change of values that leads to a change in the way one lives. Jesus also calls four fishermen (Simon, Andrew, James and John) to follow him and they did so without hesitation. Thus, we are called to repent and to follow Christ with our whole heart.

I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.
