HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY: THE FIRST WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME (13/1/2021)

Hebrews 2:14-18; Psalm 104; Mark 1:29-39

The Gospel presents us with the theme of healing. Jesus cured many who were sick and delivered many possessed people. Healing ministry was at the heart of Jesus’ saving mission. Today, healing ministry is one of the most vital apostolates of the Church. Beyond the prayers for healing, this is seen in her pastoral care for the sick and establishment of hospitals. Again, Jesus’ care and concern for the sick that made Him leave the synagogue to visit Simon’s mother-in-law continues to propel  the Church’s ministers in their pastoral visit to the sick. Lastly, the Gospel tells us that He went away from the crowd in order to have a quiet time with the Father. The first reading tells us that Jesus was a man like us. He was human despite His busy schedule He had time for God.  Beloved, never get too busy with the work of God and forget the God of the work.

Let us pray (PRAYER FOR DELIVERANCE)

My Lord, You are all powerful, You are God, You are Father. We beg You through the intercession and help of the archangels Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel, for the deliverance of our brothers and sisters who are enslaved by the evil one. All saints of heaven, come to our aid. From anxiety, sadness, and obsessions, We beg You: Free us, O Lord. From hatred, fornication, envy, We beg You: Free us, O Lord. From thoughts of jealousy, rage, and death. We beg You: Free us, O Lord. From every thought of suicide and abortion. We beg You: Free us, O Lord. From every form of sinful sexuality. We beg You: Free us, O Lord. From every division in our family, and every harmful friendship. We beg You: Free us, O Lord. From every sort of spell, malefice, witchcraft, and every form of the occult. We beg You: Free us, O Lord. Lord, You Who said, “I leave you peace, my peace I give you,” grant that, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, we may be liberated from every evil spell and enjoy Your peace always. In the Name of Christ, our Lord. Amen.”
