HOMILY FOR FRIDAY THE FIFTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 1 (12/2/2021)

GENESIS 3:1-8; PSALM 31; MARK 7:31-37

The serpent got Adam and Eve to disobey God. This was the beginning of original sin. Beyond this, man has equally fallen for the serpent of the day and so, Rom.3:23 says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Precisely because of this, the Psalm of today calls us to acknowledge our sins and ask for God’s forgiveness. Beloved, we have heard this gospel preached severally but we struggle to get along in grace. Let us beg Jesus to heal us so that we can hear God’s word and keep his commandment.

LET US PRAY

My Father and my God unblock our ears that we may listen to your word. Open our hearts that we may grow in sensitivity to the plight of others. Release our tongues so that we may speak in gratitude of your loving kindness.
