GENESIS 3:9-24; PSALM 89; MARK 8:1-10
After the fall, Adam and Eve were expelled from Garden of Eden. Disobedience disqualifies us from God’s friendship. Thus, Jesus says in John 15:14 “You are my friends if you do what I command you.” Beloved, God wants us to be with him. Friendship with God is a beautiful thing and he has made his friendship fully available to us. Jesus expressed this friendship in the Gospel reading. He said to his disciples “I have compassion for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat.” Jesus is the true friend who cares and shows genuine compassion. Let us keep his word so that we may continue to enjoy his friendship in this world and forever in the next.
