HOMILY FOR SATURDAY: THE FIFTH WEEK OF LENT YEAR 1 (27/3/2021)

EZEKIEL 37:21-28; PSALM – JEREMIAH 31:10-13; JOHN 11:45-56

I will bring them home and make them one nation. This prophecy of Ezekiel shows that a day will come when all shall be united as a redeemed nation. This prophecy was manifested in Jesus Christ. Jesus died to gather together the scattered children of God. The Pharisees and the Jews took this in literal terms and so they feared the supreme power of Jesus Christ that implied so much popularity that can win him political reign. Thus, the Pharisees decided to kill him. Often times we misunderstand people and subject them to evil plots or wish them badly. Let us open our heart to Jesus so that the desired unity can take place.

LET US PRAY

O God, who have made all those reborn in Christ a chosen race and a royal priesthood, grant us, we pray, the grace to will and to do what you command, that the people called to eternal life may be one in the faith of their hearts and the homage of their deeds. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
