Isaiah 49:1-6; Psalm 71; John 13:21-33, 36-38
In the first reading, we see the Second Song of the Suffering Servant of the Lord. This Suffering Servant of Lord in the Prophecy of Isaiah is Jesus Christ. He is the Light of the nations that has brought the dawn of the Lord’s salvation to the ends of the earth. In the gospel, Jesus – the Light of the nations foretold his betrayal by Judas and Peter’s denial. Between Peter and Judas there are some similarities and differences. Jesus once referred to them as devils Mt.16:23 and Jn.6:70-71. Judas betrayed Him Lk.22:48. Peter denied Him Mt.26:70-74. Peter repented. Judas did not. We all have sinned but repentance makes the difference. Let us repent of our sins and stand as the light of the nations.
Let us pray
Almighty ever-living God, grant us so to celebrate the mysteries of the Lord’s Passion that we may merit to receive your pardon. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
