Acts 3:1-10; Psalm 105; Luke 24:13-35
“They recognized him at the breaking of bread”. This statement shows the paramount place of the Eucharist in the life of the disciples. Every one of us comes to recognize Jesus better at the breaking of bread. Jesus himself left us with this responsibility when he says “Do this in memory of me”. At the breaking of bread our cold hearts begin to burn, our blind eyes are opened, and our souls are filled with grace, peace and joy. Therefore, strengthened by the grace from the Holy Eucharist like the two disciples from Emmaus let us go back to Jerusalem and resume our faith in haste. Like Peter and the other disciples in the first reading let us go forth to proclaim the risen Christ.
LET US PRAY
O God, who gladden us year by year with the solemnity of the Lord’s Resurrection, graciously grant that, by celebrating these present festivities, we may merit through them to reach eternal joys. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
