WITNESSLINE DEVOTIONAL: DEALING WITH TRIALS (DAY SEVEN)

THEME:
DEALING WITH TRIALS (DAY SEVEN)

1Samuel 7

MEDITATION

This chapter tells us how Samuel subdues the Philistines at Mizpah. Samuel was able to subdue them by sacrifice. Sacrifice here means prayer. No one can subdue a territory or a warring enemy without prayer. Beloved, if we must win battles today we must engage in prayer. Prayer defeats the plans of the wicked.  When Samuel offered burnt offering his people prevailed over the Philistines(1Sam 7:10). After their victory, Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer which means “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” Beloved, victory comes from the Lord and we must recognize that and appreciate God for it.
