Acts 5:27-33; Psalm 34; John 3:31-36
The first reading presents us with the trial of St. Peter before the Jewish authorities. Despite his imprisonment Peter and the other disciples remained resolute and were bold! Fear or the spirit of timidity is one of the gratest attacks against Evangelization today. We cannot teach or preach efectively if we are not bold. Christianity has come under violent attack and many Christians are scaredstiff like kids in a dark room. It has become so difficult to exercise the faith in some territories. Yet like Peter and the other appostles we are called to be bold. Boldness is a gift that comes from above. Precisely because of this, Jesus tells us that “He who comes from above is above all”. Therefore, we must seek to be born from above; that is, to be born of the Spirit so that we can spread the good news irrespective of tensions and moods.
LET US PRAY
O God, who for the salvation of the world brought about the paschal sacrifice, be favourable to the supplications of your people, so that Christ our High Priest, interceding on our behalf, may by his likeness to ourselves bring us reconciliation, and by his equality with you free us from our sins. Amen.
