HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER YEAR 1 (26/4/2021)

ACTS 11:1-18; PSALM 42; JOHN 10:1-10

Today’s gospel gives us a breakdown of the relationship between a shepherd and his sheep. It expresses the passionate care and love of a shepherd for his sheep. Jesus says “I am the door; if anyone enters by me, he will be saved, and he will go in and out and find pasture.”  Today we are faced with many open doors, the truth has been pluralized and multiplied. Prov. 14:12 tells us that there is a way that seem right onto a man but the end is death.” Beloved, Jesus is the only door that leads to salvation. Follow Jesus and be saved! “The sheep hears the shepherd’s voice and they follow; they do not follow the voice of a stranger.” There are many voices today; only one voice is reliable and that is the voice of God.  Beloved, in this generation if we must be saved we must discern the true door and the only voice.  Like Peter in the first reading, our decision must be guided by the Lord.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
