HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OF THE FIFTH WEEK OF EASTER YEAR 1 (4/5/2021)

Acts 14:19-28; Psalm 144; John 14:27-31

John 14:27 says “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”  Christ gift of peace is not a state, but a relationship. It is the fruit of deeply abiding in him. This relationship will never fail. It will enable the disciples to endure suffering and rejection. Precisely because of this, in the first reading, Paul and Barnabas could endure suffering for their preaching and visited more communities. Beloved, Christ gift of peace is a relationship that enables his children to endure all for the kingdom. This is Christ’s peace not the world’s peace.

LET US PRAY

O God, who restore us to eternal life in the Resurrection of Christ, grant your people constancy in faith and hope, that we may never doubt the promises which we have learned from you. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
