HOMILY FOR MONDAY  OF THE SEVENTH WEEK OF EASTER (17/5/2021)

ACTS 19:1-8; PSALM 67; JOHN 16:29-33

Jesus says “Take courage: I have conquered the world!” Jesus had prepared our minds for the persecution that will come for his name sake so he calls us to be courageous. Courage, fortitude or boldness is a function of the gift of Holy Spirit. 2 Tim. 1:7 says that God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power. Therefore, we should not be hopeless and fearful. Precisely because of this, Paul in the first reading told the Christians at Ephesus that the gift of the Holy Spirit is a necessity in their Christian faith. Beloved, we need the Holy Spirit  in order to make us strong, perfect Christians and soldiers of Jesus Christ.

LET US PRAY

May the power of the Holy Spirit come to us, we pray, O Lord, that we may keep your will faithfully in mind and express it in a devout way of life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
