TOBIT 3:1-11, 16-17; PSALM 25; MARK 12:18-27
First reading says: “Raphael is sent to bring remedy to the house of Tobit.” Tobit and Sarah were depressed over the calamities that have befallen them. Tobit in his blindness offered prayers to God. Sarah who had been married seven times yet would lost each of them even before consumation joined in prayers for restoration. God answered them and sent Archangel Raphael to bring remedy to them. Raphael was sent to remove the white film from Tobit’s eyes, so that he could see again, and to arrange a marriage between Sarah and Tobit’s son Tobias. Raphael was also ordered to expel the demon Asmodeus from Sarah. Beloved, certainly trials will come but the best response we can give is an ardent prayer. Let us learn to pray and surmount our challenges. Do not be distracted because there is a problem. No condition is permanent. For those who can persevere and pray; they shall receive the good tidings of the healing angel – Raphael. If you can pray today God will send his angel to you. The gospel further buttresses the need to believe and trust in God using the story of the woman who had seven husbands. Beloved, believe in God and hold firm to your faith even though we die we shall have eternal life – the best life.
LET US PRAY
O God, whose providence never fails in its design, keep from us, we humbly beseech you, all that might harm us and grant all that works for our good. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
