TOBIT 11:5-17; PSALM 146; MARK 12:35-37
In the first reading Tobit gives praise to God for prayers answered. He praised God for the restoration of his sight. The Psalm continues with this theme of praise, it says “My soul, give praise to the Lord.” Beloved, let us give praise to God for all the benefits we have received; for illumination and knowledge, for physical and spiritual sights. When we praise God we open ourselves for more benefits and graces. Many doctors have tired but Tobit found healing in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is worthy of our praise. The Gospel of today tells us that Jesus – the Messiah is more than ‘son of David’, – he is ‘Lord’. Thus, Thomas got this so well when he worshiped saying “My Lord and my God.”
LET US PRAY
O God, whose providence never fails in its design, keep from us, we humbly beseech you, all that might harm us and grant all that works for our good. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
