TOBIT 12:1, 5-15, 20; PSALM – TOBIT 13; MARK 12:38-44
“’I am one of the seven angels who stand ever ready to enter the presence of the glory of the Lord.” With these words Archangel Raphael reveals himself to Tobit and Tobias as the one who was sent by God. Archangel Raphael is known as the angel of healing. He works to heal people’s minds, spirits, and bodies so they can enjoy peace and good health to the fullest extent of God’s will for them. Again, in revealing himself, Raphael calls Tobit and Tobias to praise God for the blessings they have received. Today’s Psalm from the book of Tobit is Tobit’s song of thanksgiving. Beloved, do not give up in the face of trials – by all means maintain true Christian virtues and surely it shall end in praise. Lastly, in praising God we should not give to God what costs us nothing. Precisely because of this, Jesus recognized the Widow’s mite and exalted her gifts compared to others in the gospel of today. Boniface gave is time, resources, treasure to building of God’s Kingdom in Germany and he died for the faith. What is the spiritual worth of our thanksgiving and gifts?
LET US PRAY
May the Martyr Saint Boniface be our advocate, O Lord, that we may firmly hold the faith he taught with his lips and sealed in his blood and confidently profess it by our deeds. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
