HOMILY FOR FRIDAYTHE FOURTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I (9/7/2021)

GENESIS 46:1-7, 28-30; PSALM 37; MATTHEW 10:16-23

The readings today present us with two basic themes: Reunion and mission. Jacob was reunited with Joseph – a sign of our heavenly union with the Father; while Jesus gave further instruction for mission. Jesus told his disciples of the hardships that will come upon them. However, he told them not to be discouraged that he will strengthen them. Beloved, as we carry out our mission there will be hardship but do not be discouraged. If God has given us the mission he will also make provision for the mission. Therefore, all we need is to abide by his instruction and if we abide by his instructions we shall experience the heavenly reunion together with the hosts of heaven.

LET US PRAY

Father, have your divine way among us church leaders so that we can faithfully lead your flock to the victory that you have promised us through Christ our Lord. Amen
