HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY  OF THE FIFTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 1 (14/7/2021)

EXODUS 3:1-6, 9-12; PSALM 103; MATTHEW 11:25-27

The first reading recounts the event of the burning bush. The burning bush represents many things to the Jews and Christians; such as God’s miraculous energy, sacred light, illumination, the burning heart of purity, love and clarity. From a human standpoint, it represents Moses’ reverence and fear before the divine presence. From this experience we come to realize that God is the God who seeks, He is the God who sends and the He is the God who stoops down to save his people. This was later manifested in the incarnation. God the Son came down to save man. Beloved, we are never alone; God never forsakes his people. Let us continue to put our trust in him. Thus, in the Gospel Jesus calls us to be humble and possess a childlike trust in God. God speaks, but like Moses we need to develop a listening ear and recognize His voice. We need to trust Him and take action on what we hear.

LET US PRAY

O God, who show the light of your truth to those who go astray, so that they may return to the right path, give all who for the faith they profess are accounted Christians the grace to reject whatever is contrary to the name of Christ and to strive after all that does it honor. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
