JOSHUA 3:7-11, 13-17; PSALM 114; MATTHEW 18:21-19:1
The Gospel reading presents us with the theme of forgiveness. Christ wants us to forgive not once but indefinitely. As Christians forgiveness is our business. There is no limit to God’s mercy or as to the number of times we can go to confession. In today’s gospel we are called to forgive our neighbors as their debts are smaller compared to what we owe the King. If you find it difficult to forgive ask God for grace and pray the ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ often. Forgiveness is one of the features of spiritual men. If we cannot forgive then we don’t know God. Like the Ark of the Lord, may God’s presence always go with us and help us to overcome our human limitations, so that we may come to the place of promise through Christ our Lord Amen.
LET US PRAY
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
