Judges 11:29-39, Psalm 40 & Matthew 22:1-14
The Gospel reading presents us with the parable of the wedding feast. This parable speaks of the Kingdom of God. Like those invited for a wedding feast we are all invited to the Kingdom of God. To gain entrance we must be dressed in the wedding garment. That is, we must live a life worthy of the Kingdom. No repentance, no entrance. Again, the gospel says that “none of those who were initially invited bother to attend.” Beloved, if we dishonor the Lord’s invitation he will dishonour us on the last day. Therefore, let us be serious with our Christian vocation; let us learn to keep our vows like Jephthah in the first reading and honour God by living a life of integrity.
LET US PRAY
Cast me not away from Thy presence, oh Lord
And take not Thy holy spirit from me
Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation
And renew a right spirit within me
