HOMILY FOR SATURDAY THE TWENTY SECOND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 1 (4/9/2021)

 COLOSSIANS 1:21-23; PSALM 54; LUKE 6:1-5

Remain stable and steadfast in the faith

Paul urged the Colossians to remain stable and steadfast in the faith, not shifting from the hope of the gospel which they heard (Col.1:23). These words of St. Paul are of paramount importance today. Beloved, we must be careful with enticing gospels, prosperity messages, prophetic patchwork and confusing array of different predictions. Let us continue in the true faith, let us remain stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the Gospel as preached thousands of years ago. Do not fall for preachers who are over exaggerating the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Precisely because of this, Jesus had to rebuke the Pharisees in today’s gospel for over exaggerating and misrepresenting the law of the Sabbath. Jesus is the Master of the Sabbath and for him love comes before law.

LET US PRAY

Lord Jesus, remove every evil prophecy working against our lives; terminate the plan of false prophets operating in our lives and in our communities. Help us to persevere in the true faith we have received irrespective of gains. Help us to prevail over evil interpretations and applications of the laws.
