Colossians 2:6-15; Psalm 145; Luke 6:12-19
The gospel recounts the choosing of the twelve disciples by Jesus. In preparation for this choice Jesus spent the whole night in prayer. This is a reminder that we should spend quality time in prayer before making important decisions. Don’t make a choice of a life partner over a bottle of beer or a plate of fried rice. Engage in reflective thinking and prayer before making any choice. Wisdom is good but pray before engaging in any enterprise. Wisdom says wait; emotions say hurry but in prayer we find God’s help and guidance. In line with this theme; St. Paul in the first reading, calls the Colossians to live their whole lives according to Christ Jesus. Let us live according to Christ. Prov.3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus, free us from the shackles of bad attitude. Work in our hearts and minds to transform our thinking from negative to positive. Despite the struggles we face help and guide our choices. Amen.
