HOMILY FOR TUESDAY THE 29TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 1 (19/10/2021)

Romans 5:12, 15, 17-21; Psalm 40; Luke 12:35-38

The first reading says “as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for all men.” The first man is Adam and the second is Christ. What Adam destroyed by sin; Christ restored by righteousness. Today, just as the behaviour of one bad man can lead to the destruction of many, so also the behaviour of one good man can bring about restoration and peace. Nigeria needs one good man in the right position. We need one man who will do the will of God and not his own will (Today’s Response to the Psalm). Beloved, we are stewards of God’s creation just as the gospel narrated. Therefore, let us keep God’s house in order until his coming. Be a good man, be a good steward and be ready.

LET US PRAY

Oh Lord of righteousness, in this world that is full of violence, selfishness, murder and other evil deeds, teach us the path of holiness, and engrave us to live like Christ in words, thoughts and deeds through Christ our Lord. Amen.
