HOMILY FOR SATURDAY THE THIRTY FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I

Daniel 7:15-27; Psalm – Daniel 3:82-87; Luke 21:34-36

Jesus said to his disciples, “Be on your guard; let not your hearts be weighed down with a life of pleasure, drunkenness and worldly cares, lest that day catch you suddenly as a trap. Beloved, we must be careful to avoid being tricked or getting into a precarious situation that will disqualify us on the last day. In this light, Matt.26:41 exhorts us saying “Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” Similarly, in the first reading, Daniel reminds us that we have become a line of kings to further the purpose of creation. Therefore, let us behave as such.

LET US PRAY

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
