HOMILY FOR FRIDAY AFTER EPIPHANY OF THE LORD (7/1/2022)

1 John 5:5-13/Psalms 147:12-13, 14-15, 19-20/Luke 5:12-16

The Gospel reading speaks of the healing of a man was suffering from a dreaded skin-disease otherwise called leprosy. Sin is the leprosy of the soul. Just as leprosy separated one from the other, so also sin separates us from God. But if we choose to be cleansed Jesus is ever ready to make us clean. The man in today’s gospel was willing. Are we willing to let go our sins? Are you willing to end that addiction? It is not a testimony that we are healed but its a big testimony that we are cleansed from sins. The first reading reminds us that the greatest testimony of a man is the salvation of his soul through Jesus Christ. Beloved, be willing and come to Jesus now.

LET US PRAY

Father, give is the grace to do your will. We want to put an end to the vices in us, we earnestly seek to be better persons, we want to improve on our spiritual lives, we want to live holy lives, give us the enabling grace to overcome  lust and the world. Amen!
