ISAIAH 50:4-9; PSALM 69; MATTHEW 26:14-25
“Who thinks he has a case against me? Let him approach me”. In the first reading Isaiah speaks of his witness to God before men and women and how he had to face persecution and trials for it. This persecution also speaks of Christ’s suffering. Isaiah says “The Lord has opened my ear. For my part, I made no resistance, neither did I turn away. I offered my back to those who struck me, my cheeks to those who tore at my beard; I did not cover my face against insult and spittle.” Whenever we stand out as witnesses; we are bound to come under persecution and suffering. But in all, God never forsakes his people. Thus, Isaiah says “The Lord comes to my help, so that I am untouched by the insults”. In the gospel, Judas accepted thirty silver pieces to hand Jesus over to the Jewish authorities. The love of money is the root of all evil. Judas bore false witness to Jesus. What kind of witness are you?
LET US PRAY
