_Dispel Darkness_
*ACTS 12:24-13:5; PSALM 67; JOHN 12:44-50*
The first reading recounts Paul and Barnabas missionary work in Antioch and thereafter in Cyprus and southern Turkey. The word of God continued to spread and gained followers. We are the missionaries of our time. It is our primary duty to spread the word of God not solely to distant territories but most importantly to our household and neighbourhood. Similarly, the Gospel tells us that Christ is the light of the world sent to dispel the darkness of sin and hatred in order to bring mankind to salvation. Beloved, every missionary of the gospel is an expression of Christ’s light. Therefore, we must become shining examples to others; we must rise and shine in order to raise a generation of light for the Lord. Let us cast away the deeds of the night and embrace the light of salvation. Let us renounce idolatry and embrace true worship.
*LET US PRAY*
*O God, life of the faithful, glory of the humble, blessedness of the just, listen kindly to the prayers of those who call on you, that they who thirst for what you generously promise may always have their fill of your plenty. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.*
