HOMILY FOR FRIDAY FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER 13/5/2022

ACTS 13:26-33; PSALM 2; JOHN 14:1-6
“𝐋𝐄𝐓 ππŽπ“ π˜πŽπ”π‘ 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐒 𝐁𝐄 π“π‘πŽπ”ππ‹π„πƒ…”
John chapter fourteen is regarded as one of the farewell speeches of Jesus Christ. In farewell speech we say goodbye to our colleagues and publicly acknowledge their help, friendship and offer them words of encouragement to carry on irrespective of odds. In doing this, Jesus urged his disciples to remain focus in order to gain eternal life.
Again, he said to Thomas, β€œI am the Way, the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6). Beloved, Jesus is the way, there is no other way. Peter asked β€œLord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” Jesus is the truth. Every quest for truth finds meaning in him. He is the life: with him we have life in abundance.Β
Therefore, let not your hearts be troubled. The state of the nation gives us every reason to be troubled but as Christians we know that every cloud has a silver lining. I know that family problems can be overwhelming, but do not be troubled. I know that being single while advancing in age can cause anxiety, but he says “let not your hearts be troubled.” Why? He knows all we are passing through. “JESUS KNOWS ALL ABOUT OUR STRUGGLES. HE WILL GUIDE TILL THE DAY IS DONE THERE’S NOT A FRIEND LIKE THE LOWLY JESUS. NO, NOT ONE! NO, NOT ONE!” Have your peace. Jesus cares about you! These momentary afflictions will produce greater rewards.Β
LET US PRAY
O God, author of our freedom and of our salvation, listen to the voice of our pleading and grant that we may have life in abundance through you and under your protection, rejoice for ever unharmed. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
