John 14:27 says β€œPeace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” Jesus’ farewell wish is β€˜Peace!’ Jesus knew we need peace as his disciples to continue his work fervently here on earth. Without peace we cannot give our best. Again, he added “Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afriad”. Why are we troubled? Why are we restless? The tensions in the society, the religious crisis, the political turmoil, insecurity, moral decadence, children/youths abnormalities and the likes constitute the reason for tension today.

Beloved, have peace, do not be afraid for Jesus is still in control. In the first reading, Paul and Barnabas endured much sufferings and stones while preaching in different communities. They knew that Jesus was in control of their affairs and lives. Do not be afriad, Jesus assures us peace because he is in control of every situation, he gave the mandate and so he will bring it to fulfillment.

May Christ’s peace reign in our land!

LET US PRAY

Lord Jesus, give us your peace and restore us to eternal life, grant us the grace to persevere in all things and may we never doubt the promises you have made. Amen.

Acts 14:19-28; Psalm 144; John 14:27-31
