THE BLIND MAN OF JERICHO
In Luke 18:35-43 a blind man had the faith to shout out to Jesus as he passed by; though those around him rebuked him, his need for Jesus was so deep that he yelled louder. His need was obvious but Jesus wanted him to ask by posing the question, “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus is asking you today, “What do you want me to do for you”. Talk to him today and tell him of your needs.
The blind man cried out, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” He was given a firm command to keep quiet by those in front of him. How do we handle beggars, the impoverished, and persons with disabilities? with the deference and tact Jesus exhibits in this instance? How can we aid someone who is less fortunate than we are today?
The man might not have been heard by Jesus if he had stopped screaming out. All we have to do is keep trying. Is there anything today that we need to cry out to Jesus for? Keep in mind the persistent widow and her outcome in Luke 18:1-8. Let’s learn to be persistent regardless of obstacles and setbacks.
Like the blind man let’s go before Jesus today and ask him to have mercy on us insistently. The first reading says; “Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place” (Rev.2:5). Beloved, if we are willing to ask for mercy, God is ready to grant us pardon, healing and restoration.
Restoration heals relationships. When he was restored he followed Jesus. When you are restored cling to Jesus and follow Him – be his disciple.
LET US PRAY
Father, have mercy and forgive us. By the power of the Holy Spirit help us to be victorious and grant us healing and restoration through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
