The Separation of the sheep from the goats is a parable that exhorts Christians to take action to help those in need. Jesus says; βTruly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for meβ (Matthew 25:40). Do you believe this?Β
We must learn to help those in need, we must learn to treat people with respect irrespective of their religious or social status. The first reading reiterated this saying; βYou shall not oppress your neighbour or rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morningβ (Lev. 19:13).Β
What is our attitude towards our neighbours? How do we treat our workers? Is the presidential election 2023 a reflection of the minds of the electorates? It is not enough to fast and pray, we must equally improve on our attitude towards others. If we do not change, at the final separation of the sheep from the goats God shall distinguish between good and bad individuals.Β
LET US PRAY
Convert us, O God our Savior, and instruct our minds by heavenly teaching, that we may benefit from the works of Lent. Amen.
