Persecution
ACTS 16:1-10; PSALM 100; JOHN 15:18-21
“Servants are not greater than their master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.” Following Jesus also means sharing his lot, being rejected and even hated by ‘the world’ because our values are different.
As Christians we should be ready to face persecution. Everybody will not love you and don’t try to please everybody – even Jesus was not loved by everybody, he had oppositions and haters. Goodness sometimes offends people. So, we must be brave.
The first reading presents us with Paul’s second missionary journey. In spite of previous persecutions, Paul did not quit preaching. Persecution, oppositions or haters should not stop us from doing what is right and ideal.
LET US PRAY
Almighty and eternal God, who through the regenerating power of Baptism have been pleased to confer on us heavenly life, grant, we pray, that those you render capable of immortality by justifying them may by your guidance attain the fullness of glory. Amen!
