HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE TWELFTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy

GENESIS 17:1, 9-10, 15-22; PSALM 128; MATTHEW 8:1-4

A leper knelt before Jesus in the gospel text and said to him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” Jesus said to him “I will; be clean” and immediately he was cleansed. Christ gave the leper a new look.

Many of us have experienced living with a condition, illness, or chronic discomfort that never goes away. We could all use some sort of healing. We rely on God’s power to bring about both bodily and emotional healing for us.

Beloved, Christ is always willing to help those who come to him in faith and trust. If we abandon him we shall be mocked even in the least of battles. God is always willing; we too should entrust ourselves to him.

In the first reading, God expressed his willingness to give Abram a family and so he gives Abram and Sarai new names. Come to Him, remain faithful and he shall give you a new name and a new look.

LET US PRAY

Dear Lord, we come humbly before you asking you to heal us in every area of our lives. We give you our hearts in faith that you can make us whole. Jesus, we believe that you are our healer and redeemer. Amen
