Healing and Restoration
GENESIS 28:10-22; PSALM 91; MATTHEW 9:18-26
In the Gospel Jesus demonstrated the power to save and the power to heal. The woman with the issue of blood was healed after she suffered for twelve years. Jarius’ twelve years old daughter was restored to life. Beloved, God never abandoned his people. Sorrow may last for years or a night but as long as we refuse to give up; God shall raise us up – our joy is certain.
Let us learn to resort to Jesus in spite of the trials. The two characters in our gospel reading resorted to Jesus and they got the best result. Just as the ladder of angels which Jacob saw in the first reading symbolizes the communication between God and man; let us have proper communication with God. To communicate with God is to pray. Keep praying!
No shortcuts exist to the top of a palm tree. Therefore, like Jarius and the woman with the issue of blood, we must exercise faith, perseverance and trust in Jesus in order to enjoy his everlasting love.
LET US PRAY
Lord Jesus Christ, by your patience in suffering you hallowed earthly pain and gave us the example of obedience to your Father’s will. Be near to us in our time of weakness and pain; sustain us by your grace, that our strength may not fail and heal us according to your will. Amen.
