Reunion
GENESIS 46:1-7, 28-30; PSALM 37; MATTHEW 10:16-23
The first reading presents us with Jacob’s reunion with Joseph. It was revealed to Jacob that his son Joseph is still alive! He is in fact a ruler in Egypt. Unable to trust them, Jacob was astounded. However, he was full of joy when he saw the carts Joseph had ordered to take him back. There is an unquantifiable joy when we reunite with the Father in the sacrament of reconciliation and more so our heavenly reunion with the Father.
In the gospel reading, Jesus told his disciples about the hardships that will come upon them. However, he told them not to be discouraged that he will strengthen them. In mission and even in other enterprises moments of difficulties abound but if we persevere we shall fulfill our calling.
If God has given us the mission he will also make provision for the mission. Therefore, do not be discouraged; abide by the Lord’s instruction and then we shall experience the heavenly reunion with the Father and the hosts of heaven.
LET US PRAY
Father, have mercy and forgive us. Give us courage to remain steadfast when the going gets tough. Help to overcome difficulties and trials that come our way. Fill us with life and heavenly joy. Amen.
