The Burning Bush
EXODUS 3:1-6, 9-12; PSALM 103; MATTHEW 11:25-27
The first reading presents us with the Burning Bush experience. The burning bush represents many things to the Jews and Christians; such as God’s miraculous energy, sacred light, illumination, the burning heart of purity, love and clarity. It also represents Moses’ reverence and fear before the Divine presence.
Summarily, we learn from the Burning Bush experience that God searches for, sends, and descends to save his people. This was later manifested in the incarnation. God the Son came down to save man. Beloved, we are never alone and God never forsakes his people. Let us continue to put our trust in him.
Consequently, in the Gospel Jesus tells us to be humble and possess a childlike trust in God. God speaks, but like Moses we need to develop a listening ear to be able to recognize His voice. We need to trust Him and act upon his counsels.
LET US PRAY
O God, who show the light of your truth to those who go astray, so that they may return to the right path, give all who for the faith they profess are accounted Christians the grace to reject whatever is contrary to the name of Christ and to strive after all that does it honor. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
