1 Timothy 3:14-16; Psalm 110; Luke 7:31-35
In the Gospel, Jesus tells the audience that God chooses and appoints the messenger to serve as his representative. He made this statement because the people thought John was insane. Yet, when Christ himself showed up among them acting like John would have, they mocked him and labeled him a drunk.
We must accept God’s message, and pay attention to his messenger in order to enjoy eternal life. God and his message must never be viewed from our perspective. True ministers are to carry out divine longings rather than fulfilling the lustful requests or desires of the people. Don’t seek to impress men; try to please God.
In the first reading, Paul exhorts Timothy on how people ought to behave in God’s family – that is, in the Church of the living God. Beloved, as people of God we ought to be open to the message and teaching of Christ through the Church. We must resolve, adjust and align with the message of Christ.

LET US PRAY
O God, who have been pleased to increase your adopted children in all the world, and who made the blood of the Martyrs Saint Andrew Kim Tae-gon and his companions a most fruitful seed of Christians, grant that we may be defended by their help and profit always from their example. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
