Susanna and the Elders
Daniel 13:1–9, 15–17, 19–30, 33–62; PSALM 21; John 8:12–20
“Susanna and the Elders” is a story that illustrates God’s help and justice for the innocent. Susannah was almost victimized by a wrong and biased judgment. But through her prayers, God intervened and came to her aid. Many people today are suffering because of wrong judgments. May God come to their aid.
Again, do not be afraid to go through pain for what is right, even if it means death. God will always be there for the just man. Today’s psalm says, “If I should walk in the valley of darkness, no evil would I fear. He guides me along the right path; he is true to his name. You are there with your crook and your staff; with these, you give me comfort. (Psalm 23:4).
Let’s also learn to lead with integrity. In the gospel, Jesus says, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.’ The Lenten season is a time to embrace light. Let us resist the deeds of darkness, lies, injustice, oppression, pride, and lust.
Let us pray.
O God, by whose wondrous grace we are enriched with every blessing, grant us so to pass from former ways to newness of life, that we may be made ready for the glory of the heavenly kingdom. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
