God’s love and care
Hosea 2:16–18, 21–22; Psalm 145; Matthew 9:18–26
Hosea 2:16 says, “In that day, declares the Lord, you will call me’my husband’; you will no longer call me’my master.” This explains God’s relationship with his people, Israel. His relationship is one of undying love. On the basis of this love, the Lord declared his intention to marry Israel forever. An intention that explains God’s covenant to be with us forever (Deut 31:8).
Today’s gospel further illustrates this eternal love in the restoration of the life of Jarius daughter and the healing of the woman who had suffered from haemorrhage for twelve years. God never abandoned his people. Despite our failures, God never wavers in his love and concern for us.
LikeJarius and the woman with the issue of blood, we must exercise faith and trust in Jesus in order to enjoy his everlasting love.
Let us pray
Father, have mercy and save us. Help us to respond actively to your undying love despite the circumstances of our lives. Amen.
