Falsehood
2 Thessalonians 2:1-3, 14–17; Psalm 96; Matthew 23:23–26
Paul urges the people to stay true to Christ and not allow false prophets, particularly those who teach about the end of the world, to deceive them. Let’s be guided when it comes to end-time prophecies and teachings.
False teaching often contradicts scripture and established doctrine, emphasises personal opinions over traditional teachings, focusses on self-interest and power, and uses manipulative tactics to control others. Let’s be steadfast and adhere to apostolic teachings.
Jesus rebuked the scribes and Pharisees for their false practices. The Pharisees and Scribes are symbolic of religious authorities who are preoccupied with rules and procedures but neglect justice, truth, mercy, faith, and love.
As the church celebrates the memorial of St. Monica today, we pray for the grace to pursue righteousness through truth, patience, and prayer.
Let us pray
Lord, protect us from false teaching and guide us in Your truth. Help us to discern wisely and remain faithful to Your teachings. Amen.
