Job 38:1, 12-2, 40:3-5, Ps. 139, Luke 10:13-16:
Rejecting God’s mercy
In today’s gospel reading, Jesus confronts Chorazin and Bethsaida—these cities were blessed with Jesus’ presence and teachings but refused to repent.
Again, Capernaum, a city privileged to be the hub of Jesus’ ministry, will be cast down to Hades for its pride and unfaithfulness. While Sodom, a city destroyed for its wickedness, serves as a warning. Jesus says Sodom would have repented if it witnessed his miracles.
Beloved, refusing God’s mercy leads to spiritual destruction, feelings of emptiness, hopelessness, and isolation, eternal separation, permanent darkness, and regret. John 3:36 says, “For whoever rejects the Son will not see life, but God’s wrath remains on them.”
St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us.
Prayer:
Lord, grant us the gift of repentance. Help us receive Your mercy and share it with others. May our hearts remain open to Your Word.
