HOMILY FOR SATURDAY 3: THE TWENTY-SIXTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

HOPE IN ADVERSITY

Job 42:1-3, 5-6, 12-17; Psalm 119; Luke 10:17-24

Job’s life serves as a poignant reminder that no circumstance is permanent. As we reflect on his story from the first reading, we see that God not only restored but exceeded Job’s initial blessings, granting him unparalleled happiness.

Similarly, the Gospel accounts of Christ’s disciples returning from their missionary endeavors, filled with joy and empowered by their authority over evil, demonstrate the profound fulfillment found in serving God.

In times of adversity, we are reminded to draw strength from these scriptural examples. Perseverance and unwavering faith, as exemplified by Job and the disciples, yield triumphant outcomes.

Therefore, we are encouraged to maintain hope and confidence, trusting that our circumstances will improve and that faithfulness will ultimately be rewarded.

Let us pray

Father, we trust in Your goodness and providence. Grant us hope, confidence, and perseverance in difficult times. May our faithfulness be rewarded and fill our hearts with peace and joy. Amen.
